The Flame Of Truth: Chapter 3

Here is Chapter 3: The bright light woke me up. Celeste was not in the bed. I quickly made the bed and hurried to my room to get changed for my run. I found a pair of leggings, a t-shirt, my windbreaker and some tennis shoes. I grabbed my phone and earbuds from my desk and hurried downstairs. It was a usual Saturday morning. My parents were at work and Crystal and Ruby were eating some breakfast, but the unusual thing was Celeste was sitting at the kitchen table.  “Where are you heading?” she inquired looking at me.  “On my morning run,” I told her.  “Valerie goes on runs every morning,” Ruby informed Celeste. “She did it all summer,”  “Can I go with you?” Celeste suggested.  “Uh yeah sure,” I told her. She ran upstairs to change.  ‘So where are we running to,” she asked when she had changed into some running shorts, a jacket and tennis shoes.  “I usually run to the track and then do sprints and then run back home,” I told her as we walked outside.  “You’ve been doing this all summe

The Flame of Truth: Chapter 2

Here is Chapter 2: It had been two weeks since school had started and I never saw Celeste except for in the morning and at night for family dinner. From what I knew she was hanging out with her friends. All summer she had spent time with them. During the school year she usually focused more on work, but her hanging out time had only increased. I finally was able to catch one of her friends Krishna during study hallway.  “Hey Krishna,” I said walking up to her. She looked up and smiled. Krishna although she dressed with bright colors and somehow made it look cool. Though her clothes were rebellious she was a sweet girl. “Hey Valerie. What’s up?” She asked.  “I was wondering what you guys have been up to. Celeste has been hanging out with you guys a lot and I was just wondering what you guys were doing,” I told her. I watched as confusion flashed across her face.  “Celeste hasn’t been hangin

My sisters were now fighting over the bathroom. I had learned as a middle child that it was best not to get involved. I made my way to the kitchen where I found my mom cooking.  “Good morning mum,” I said.  “Valerie! I didn’t hear you,” she exclaimed turning around clutching her chest.  “Sorry,” I said with a lopsided grin. My mom turned back to the pancakes she was flipping. “It’s fine sweetie. You just scared me. All the others are so....loud,” She said with a laugh.  The sound of someone running down the stairs reached my ears and smiled.  “Good morning, mom,” My sister Opal said. Running into the kitchen. She quickly grabbed a purse that was on the counter. She had my mother's long golden hair and my father's tan complexion. When I was with my sisters, I stuck out like a sore thumb. I ha
